Hey! So I was just reading about this crazy interaction between President Trump and Kaitlan Collins from CNN during a town hall event. Apparently, Trump called her a “nasty person” when she asked him about his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Basically, Collins was asking Trump about why he claimed at the beginning of the pandemic that the virus would “disappear” and recently said that “it’s still going to disappear.” Trump didn’t like her question, and instead of answering it directly, he insulted her by calling her “nasty.”
To me, this feels like just another example of Trump lashing out at the media when they ask tough questions. But it’s a bigger issue than just one incident. It’s about the president’s attitude towards the media as a whole, and how that affects their ability to report on important issues like the pandemic.
Personally, I think it’s important to remember that journalists have a duty to hold those in power accountable and to ask tough questions. In a democracy, the free press plays a vital role in keeping the public informed and the government in check.
So, yeah, it’s a funny story in a way because of how crazy the interaction was. But at the same time, it’s a serious issue that affects the way we receive information and hold our leaders accountable.
