So, I was reading this crazy article about the Packers draft pick, Lukas Van Ness, and his dad’s strange behavior. You won’t believe what happened! Apparently, after Van Ness was chosen by the Packers, his dad got a little too touchy-feely with his son’s girlfriend. I’m not talking about a simple high-five or hug, this guy took it to a whole new level by slapping her butt in front of everyone. Needless to say, people were pretty taken aback by it.
Now, I know some families are more touchy-feely than others, but this just seems like an uncomfortable boundary to cross. I mean, the poor girlfriend must have been mortified. It’s one thing to show your kid some love and support, but it’s another thing entirely to get handsy with their significant other.
It’s interesting to me how different families have different ways of expressing affection. In my family, we’re not big on physical touch, so this whole situation seems especially bizarre to me. But I guess it just goes to show that there’s no one “right” way to show love.
All in all, I think it’s important to always respect other people’s boundaries, whether you’re family or not. The fact that this incident made headlines just goes to show how uncomfortable it made people feel. Sometimes, it’s not about what you intend, but about how your actions are perceived.
