So I came across this crazy article about a former marine named Daniel Penny, who was arraigned for a subway chokehold death in NYC. Basically, he was trying to apprehend this guy who had been harassing people on the subway and things ended up getting out of hand.
From what I gathered, Penny was riding the subway when he noticed this guy was bothering people and being verbally aggressive. He tried to calm the situation down and even called the police, but the guy wasn’t having it. That’s when things took a turn for the worse and Penny ended up putting him in a chokehold, which unfortunately led to the guy’s death.
It’s a tough situation because as a veteran, Penny was probably just trying to do the right thing and protect those around him. But at the same time, using excessive force is never the answer.
Personally, I think it’s important to be aware of situations like this and understand that even if we have good intentions, we need to be careful with how we handle them. It’s a sad situation all around, and I hope justice is served for everyone involved.
