So, there’s been this crazy article going around about a luxury lingerie brand called Honey Birdette. Apparently, they’re a “by women, for women” kind of brand, but they recently posted an ad featuring a male.
From what I understand, the ad showed a man posing with a female model wearing the brand’s lingerie. This has caused quite a bit of controversy, with some people accusing the brand of contradicting their message of female empowerment by using a man in their ad.
Personally, I think it’s a little silly to get upset over this. I mean, if the brand wants to include men in their advertising, that’s their prerogative. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not still focused on catering to women.
That being said, I can see how some people might be frustrated with the decision. After all, it’s hard enough to find lingerie that’s actually designed with women’s bodies in mind. Adding in a man could potentially shift the focus away from what the brand is supposed to be about.
Overall, I think this article raises some interesting questions about gender and advertising. It’s important to think critically about the messages companies are sending, and whether or not they align with our own values. At the same time, we shouldn’t be too quick to jump to conclusions or assume the worst of every company out there.
