Los Angeles tech CEO's remains found years after he vanished on Uber ride

The remains of a Los Angeles tech CEO, who disappeared after getting into an Uber ride in May 2018, have been found in a shallow grave in a remote area of the Mojave Desert. Erik Salgado, CEO of the app development firm Disruptive Enterprises, was last seen on May 16, 2018 getting into an Uber ride in downtown Los Angeles. The remains were found on August 31, 2021, in a remote area of the Mojave Desert. Salgado’s family has said they believe he was murdered, and they have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department said it is investigating the case as a homicide. The discovery of Salgado’s remains brings closure to his family, who have been searching for him for more than three years. The story highlights the importance of ride-sharing safety and the need for effective measures to protect riders from potential harm. It is a tragic reminder of the importance of staying alert and taking steps to ensure one’s own safety when using ride-share services.
