So I read this article today that I found really interesting. It’s about the Los Angeles LGBT Center hosting a drag queen march on Easter Sunday. Basically, this is their way of reclaiming Easter, which has historically been a day of religious judgment and exclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.
The march is also a way to celebrate and honor the contributions of drag queens and the wider queer community to the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. It’s a chance to bring visibility to the community and promote acceptance and inclusivity.
Personally, I think it’s really cool that they’re doing this. As someone who’s grown up in a religious household, I can’t help but feel like holidays like Easter can be really alienating for queer folks. It’s awesome to see people taking an active stance against that and creating a space where everyone is welcome.
Overall, I think it’s important to show up and support events like this. It’s a way to show love and solidarity for the LGBTQ+ community, and to make clear that everyone deserves to feel seen and heard.
