So, I just read this article titled “JOSH HAMMER: America’s Leaders Are Way Too Old” and it had me thinking about how powerful our leaders really are. The article discusses how America’s current political leaders are way too old and how that might not be helping our government function properly.
Basically, the author argues that we need younger leaders in government who are more in touch with the needs and wants of younger generations. He points out that the majority of lawmakers in Congress are in their 60s and 70s, and that there are only a handful of lawmakers in their 30s and 40s.
I found it really interesting how the author pointed out that countries like France and New Zealand have much younger leaders who are able to connect with constituents in a way that older leaders may not be able to. He also mentions how younger leaders may be more in tune with issues like climate change and technology, which are becoming increasingly important in today’s world.
I personally think that having younger leaders in government could be a good thing. I remember when I was in college and Barack Obama was elected president - it was exciting to see someone relatively young and new to politics take on such a massive role. It made me feel like my voice and the voices of people my age were being heard.
Overall, I think this is an important topic to consider as we move forward into the future. Our political leaders should be representative of the population they serve, and that includes age diversity. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in the next few years.
