I just read this crazy article about Don Lemon getting “terminated” by CNN after 17 years! Basically, the network decided not to renew his contract, which is a big deal considering he’s been a staple of their news programming for so long.
From what I gathered, Lemon has been a controversial figure at CNN for a while now. Some people love him for his frank and at times, provocative commentary on politics and current events. But others saw him as a liability, especially after some of the things he said about Trump during the last election. Apparently, there were even rumors that some higher-ups at CNN were considering letting him go before the announcement was made.
Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, I think it’s important to have voices like Lemon’s in the media landscape, even if you don’t always agree with what he says. But on the other hand, I can see why CNN might want to distance themselves from any perception of bias or partisanship.
One thing’s for sure though: this news has definitely sparked a lot of conversation among my friends and colleagues. Love him or hate him, Don Lemon is a personality that people have strong opinions about. And the fact that he’s been “terminated” after 17 years just proves how cutthroat the world of cable news can be.
