So I just read this article about Disney suing Governor DeSantis and man, it’s crazy.
Basically, Disney is pissed because DeSantis has been talking crap about the company and its COVID-19 safety protocols. DeSantis claims that Disney’s mask mandate and other measures are hurting Florida’s economy, and even suggested that the company was being “anti-freedom.” But Disney is arguing that these measures are necessary for public health and safety, and that DeSantis is just trying to score political points by going after them.
I gotta say, I’m not surprised by any of this. With all the political drama going on right now, it seems like everyone is looking for a fight. But I do think it’s important for companies like Disney to take a stand and fight back when their reputations are on the line. Parks like Disney World draw in millions of visitors every year, and if people start to feel like they’re not safe there, it could have a huge impact on the entire tourism industry in Florida.
Personally, I’ve always been a huge Disney fan, and I’ve visited Disney World several times over the years. And while I do understand the concerns about COVID-19, I think it’s great that Disney is taking it seriously and doing everything they can to keep guests safe. I mean, it’s not like they’re just doing this for fun - they have a business to run and a reputation to protect.
All in all, I think this whole situation is a reminder that politics and business can be a messy mix, and that companies like Disney need to be prepared to defend themselves when necessary.
