I just read an article about Danny Masterson, the actor from That 70s Show, who was found guilty in his rape retrial. Yeah, crazy stuff. Apparently, he sexually assaulted three women between 2001 and 2003, but it took nearly 20 years for him to be held accountable for his actions.
The trial was intense, and the victims bravely testified despite being harassed and threatened by Masterson’s supporters. But thankfully, justice was served and he could face up to 45 years in prison when he’s sentenced in September.
It’s sobering to think that even celebrities can’t escape the consequences of their crimes, and it’s a reminder to always believe and support survivors of sexual assault.
I remember when the #MeToo movement first gained traction a few years ago, and there were so many people who tried to discredit or dismiss the stories of those who came forward. It’s important to take these cases seriously and hold perpetrators accountable.
