181 'disease detectives' tested positive for COVID after attending large CDC conference

So, I was just reading this crazy article about a bunch of disease experts who got COVID from attending a conference! Apparently, 181 out of the 1,600 people who went to this conference hosted by the CDC ended up testing positive for COVID. That’s like, over 10% of attendees!

Basically, these people are called “disease detectives” and they’re part of the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service. They’re super important because they’re the ones who investigate outbreaks of diseases like measles, Ebola, and obviously, COVID. But turns out, even experts can get infected.

It’s kind of scary to think about, especially since the conference happened back in April of last year. That means they were all together before we knew as much as we do now about how the virus spreads and how to properly protect ourselves. But hey, it’s also a good reminder that even if you think you know everything about a topic, you still have to be careful and take precautions.

Personally, I’ve been trying to stay up-to-date with the latest news about the pandemic, and this just emphasizes the importance of following guidelines from health experts. We can’t let our guard down, even if we’re around other people who are supposedly “experts”.

Overall, the article is a sobering reminder that COVID is still very much a threat and we need to stay vigilant in our efforts to contain it. I don’t know about you, but it definitely made me double-check my mask and sanitizer supply.
